OR ANG F-15 Down

Tue Jun 26, 2007 8:08 pm

A F-15 from the 123rd FS OR ANG went down off Tillamook a couple hours ago. Things are looking grim for the pilot has the debris field has been found but no trace off the pilot with conditions CAVU. I'm hoping for a good outcome has I've got some friends in the 123rd.

A friend of the pilot posted on another forum. He'd been fishing with him just yesterday

Pilot was Maj Greg (Grumpy) Young.

He'd gotten word that Major Young was killed.

They're been doing joint training with Marine Reserve F-18 from Fort-Worth, TX and were flying 4 v 4 engagement when the 15 went in the water at over 500 mph (according to the newspaper/0. This completely sucks. It's been a long time since the ANG here lost a pilot. Back in the F-4 days.

Turns out I'd met Greg Young a while back at a show. Nice guy, what a darn shame!!!!

Major Young was so young too (34). What a sad sad loss. My thoughts are of course with his family. Losing a pilot under any circumstance is a very unfortunate event, but it's extra sad knowing it happened right here in our backyard.
