This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

long shot here, but what ever happened to the rumor that the phillipine government was in the process of digging up some old air frames discarded after the war? Was anything ever uncovered? what have you guys heard? I have a friend who grew up over there and his uncle was a big wig in their airforce and use to let him wonder the outskirts of the fields over there and he recalled seeing all kinds of airframes pushed out into the trees....??

A start would be to go through this old post.
99.9 % sure it was just a false scoop launched partly by some ex members of this forum. Cannot imagine that, if several complete P-38 had been imported to the US a few years ago from the Philippines, NOBODY as of today would have seen or heard from them.
If there are actually P-38 buried in or around Clarck, they are still there.

A number of years ago I spoke with a former B-17 crew chief who was at Clark when they destroyed the P-38's and buried them. According to him, they were burned, crushed by a bulldozer and then buried.

When I was stationed in England in the '90s, I heard a similiar account of a bunch of B17s buried at the end of the runways at one of the RAF bases there. I'm trying to recall the name of the base, it was described to me as the base where all the critically damaged planes went, as it was very close to the channel. The name of the base started with a "B" I believe.
Nothing suprises me when it comes to the wastefulness of the US govt.

I'm pretty sure you're right. You'd think the guys from Duxford would be over there with their shovels.

I have an issue of W.I. from the mid 90s where a group reportedly found 6 lancs burried in England and had sonar proof. Heard of this?

And there's that B-32 on the moon as well. Perhaps TIGHAR would like to mount a recovery expedition?

Exactly...I would love for these stories to pan out...but it just seems to me that the stories far outnumber the actual planes recovered...
If someone can point me to some buried warbirds I would gladly start digging!
Oh...and dont forget the B-32 at the bottom of the Marianas trench...

Why is it so hard for some people to believe ther might be some aircraft under the ground at Clark? It was done a lot in the Pacific and on aircraft carriers they were pushing aircraft over the side.
Actually that story did not start on WIX. I have heard this story since I was a kid. That and many others.

Good eye.
The picture was titled as p-38. The rest of his pictures seem to be 38 though. This is stuff that Setter said was unburried and brought of P.I. and is now ar Murray Griffith's
