Those pictures are great!!! I second Tom's comment. Please tell me about the second airplane. It peaked my curiosity; Being unique looking and with French registration and all. Are those two doors open on the side of it?

Also, what's the stort on that nice looking JU-52? It looks great!

By the way, in one of your pictures, is that a Fairchild 82? If so, COOL!

Thanks again for posting those great pictures!

Cheers,

David

The Flying Wing glider is a Horten Bros. creation. They continued building their glider wings in Argentina postwar. Their flying wings set many glider records and won many competitions prewar in Europe. The Hortens felt that Jack Northrop was on the completely wrong track where the wings are concerned. History has proven that their way was not necessarily the ONLY way.

Which model of Horten is it? There is a Horten IV on display at Planes of Fame in Chino BTW.

According to my copy of "NURFLUGEL", written by Dr.Reimar Horten and Peter Selinger it looks like it is the Ae41"Urubu". A two place design,it was built as an 18 meter sailplane . On Oct 30,1956 Heinz Scheidhauer became the first to cross the Andes by sailplane, he was flying the Ae41, also called the H XVc.
