(R)F-84 help needed (asbestos?)

Anyone here who could tell me if asbestos was used in the Republic (R)F-84F? And if so, what area's?

Asbestos was a common material of the era through the 1970s in the US. Any mat or fabric used as a heat shield or insulation blanket that was not metallic was likely asbestos (or fiberglass). I would be confident that there is some asbestos in an F-84.

Not a direct answer, but I'm not sure you will be able to get one easily. You would need the drawings for the individual heat shields or insulation blankets to know for sure.

Maybe your local heating and air conditioning expert could tell you where to get the testing performed.

About 10 years ago they sent out teams to visit AMARC controlled aircraft (as opposed to the ones controlled by NMUSAF) to secure or remove asbestos (and any sources of radium) from static aircraft around the country.

Yeah, well just about all of us flying aircraft with instruments manufactured in the 'old days' (meaning most of us) need to be wary of the NRC. Not a joke, this could be big trouble for a lot.
