German Wasserfall

While on the Restoration tour at USAFM we came upon this German Wasserfall. It is supposedly the only one left. It was a German Surface to Air Missle. My question is: Were these ever operational? How many were produced? And does anyone have any pics of them?

not operational, but a suped up experimental version of the v-2. extensively tested, never used in anger. i'm flabbergasted that this thing is around, let alone for sale, & not in a museum. how did the owner aquire it????

Its an older book but you might try and find a copy of German Guided Missiles by Rowland F. Pocock, Arco Publishing, 1967, for an overview of the German's WWII missile development.

At the Old Huntsville Airport location there is a Hermes at a 'gate guard.' At one point several people around town thought it might be a Wasserfall, but it turned out not to be.
