WW2 bomber what if...

Tue Aug 07, 2007 6:04 am

What if on the anniversary period of end of WW2 had the Japans or Germans had a B29 style capable bomber and had been able to tho in death throes mount a long range strike against the US homeland with say a atomic device .. wonder how that could of altered the war.... Would be interesting to theorise...

Would US defences been able to stop a high altitude bomber from getting thru?

both of the enemies did studies of the feasibility of bombing / nuking the u.s.; the japanese atomic progam was crude but long term on track. as for germany, while their atomic efforts were the same as futile as the japanese, they made significant strides in the science of nuke technology.

The Germans were developing a long-range project called the "Amerikabomber."
The History Channel had a program on it (I got the vhs as a present), but I can't find a link to it.
