Anson in Texas?

Mon Oct 11, 2004 9:48 am

Found the following on Hyperscale:

"About 30 mile East at Fabens, Texas is a very small field, but there used to be quite a few projects there. At various times there was a Hurricane under restoration, P-39s airframes and P-40 parts, two Buchons and an Anson. The Anson had crashed while flying cross country and rotted there for probably twenty years. Last year about this time I drove over just to ask around about it and the only thing anybody remembered was that it went "to a museum in Texas". "

I assume RRS Aviation was based in Fabens, but anyone know about the Anson?

Could it be the Anson hulk at Midland on the CAF ramp?

I used to work for a gentleman at the Denton Airport who had an Anson project. It was pretty rough, and a big project. The wing and fuselage were de-mated and stored seperately inside the old Hangar 10 Museum. He had apparently acquired it from a museum in south Tx. somewhere. Last I heard the operation was moved up to Gainsville, Tx.

The was an Anson project at Valiant Air Command (Anson 19) which has disappeared! Could it be one of these?

The Anson is in Gainsville Tx. My family purchased her from Texas Air Museum in Rio Hondo in the late 90's. We drove down to the valley and trucked it back on a couple of trailers, quite an epic trip!. It is a Mk 19 and is one of the 6 that was in the final flyby of Ansons over London.
My dad is planning on restoring her, however currently is busy running his DC-3's and Convairs. It appears not to have been modified, the cockpit being single pilot with a navigators table, complete with lamp in the right side. We got most of the seats and interior parts, however it is in need of a complete ground up.If anyone is interested and around the Dallas area, email me diverair@ev1.net ( Im south in Georgetown)and I will pass on my dads contact info. He has quite a collection, 3 DC 3,s and a couple of Convairs at Gainsville. One of the 3's is currently here at GTU with a blown engine.
