Some Helldiver photos for Helldiver

Creve Coeur Airport was recently honored by a visitor from the Great State of Texas. The folks from the West Texas Wing of the CAF dropped by in this beast. What a cool plane. I sure wish more of these had survived.

my favorite aunts son was shot down in the pacific in one of those and died right after Iwo.
Now the strange part and stuff movies are made from, my father in law landed with the fifth marines as a medic and fought all on IWO.
I have my aunts sons flight log....he flew at least 4 missions in a ground support role while my father in law (future as he was only a kid) was on land fighting! did one of those missions save my father in laws life??/ who knows but..........

shameless plug: READ THE BOOK 'GOD ISNT HERE'...its his personal accounting of the action and Tom Hanks really needs to make a movie of it. The commandant of the 5th marines called him and told him it was the most factual and correct book he has ever read about what happened there!
