At about the 11:30 mark they discuss purposely ground looping.... Why would you do this?

Hope you enjoy.

To keep from running off the end of the runway. The gear on the -47 is wide enough that it won't tilt over and drag a wing during a ground loop, or so I'm told.

By intentionally ground looping, the maneuver is using up the energy from the forward motion of the aircraft.
