475th P-38 fighter pilot, Ed Dicky - Details wanted

Thu Aug 30, 2007 4:37 am

Hi all

doing some research on Ed Dicky (also seen it written as Dickey) who was a P-38 Fighter Pilot with the 475th F/G during WW2.

Classic Jets has his P-38 Lightning on dispaly - being number 153. Recent research indicates this aircraft may have had the name of “Scarlet Scourge” and some nose art painted over the nose gun doors.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? A picture of the nose art work would be fantastic.

all help appreciated.

Howdy Digger

This topic was covered several years back on this website under
P-38H-5-LO # 42-66841
Lt.Edward Dickey and his Crew Chief Sgt. Manual Malandrakis ( ? Spelling)
were from the 432nd FS/ 475th FG
There were 2 painted Kill flags on the remains of this P-38 before it was restored. As far as I know there was no Gun bay doors attached to the wreck (Pics seen on Gary Larkins website)

Your best bet would be to get in touch with the Bob Jarrett/ CJFM and the 475th FG Association for further details

Hope this helps
