B-32 picture. WPAFB 1945

Fri Sep 14, 2007 4:31 pm

I snapped this picture of a picture at the NMUSAF. It is of a wall sized print depicting an airshow at WP immediately following the war. I believe the caption said it was from Oct. 45.

The B-32 caught my eye... Lots of interesting types in the pic.

Please help me out here and identify which a/c is which. I recognize the "Connie" & a couple of others, but I can't make out a B32 (and I am wearing my glasses).
...thanks in advance...

I've always loved that photo. I looked on the NMUSAF website, but couldn't find it.

John--

Taking the group of aircraft as though they were a formation, the lead "vic" is two Superforts (the "lead" one with the A on the fin could be one of the two atomic-raid B-29s?) and a Connie; the second "vic" has the B-32 Dominator in the "lead" with C-46 to starboard and C-54 to port. Behind those are a Fort, a Lib, and what must have been one of the first C-97s, among others...cool pic.

Also an A-26 and a C-119?

It's a C-82.

Thats also a B-25 not an A-26. The nose on that B-24 looks awefully short...possibly an early model.

Speaking of B-32s, how about an ultra-rare B-32 ball turret?

This one's on display at the CAF DFW Wing's hangar at Lancaster, TX (KLNC). There can't be many of them still in existence, can there?

Cheers!

I think thats a A-26, not a B-25. Look at the shape of the wing. It also has flat wing tips. While the B-25 has more of a rounded edge.

Now if we just had a plane to put it on. :)
