If you run an aviation/warbird/WWII website and can't afford the time or money to run it anymore don't just kill it. Let us know and we might be able to help. We don't want to see this type of site just disappear. So contact me through PM or e-mail and we'll see what we can do.

This doesn't happen to be in reference to Ruud's site does it? I was sad to hear what his host is doing to him. If you guys are able to help in some way, I know a lot of Stratocruiser/KC-97 guys would be very grateful as would a lot of old bird (in general) guys like me who love reading about some of the interesting old birds that are still making a living out there.

Agreed, what Ruud's hosting company did was rotten.

Ruud Leuw was a guy from Holland that had some great stuff on a lot of the old cargo birds, like the DC-3/C-47. His ISP said he was using too much bandwidth and shut down his site, and most importantly, his e-mail. If he wants to get them back, they want him to pay a premium. It's extortion if you ask me.

IS there anything that we or rather I can do to help this man out? Does anyone have more information. Is he giving up the entire site? IF so, have him contact me and I can place the info on my server or do something for him.,

I hadn't heard about Ruud's site issues but that is the type of thing I was talking about. If Paul can't help him I'm sure we can do something. I loved that site.

Because his website and e-mail are down, it's going to be difficult to get ahold of him. The biggest problem is that the ISP is now holding his website hostage and the information on it, a lot of information.

I think some of the guys on the Stratocruiser Yahoo!Group may have alternate contact information for him. I would check there.

Ruud Leeuw has some pictures on Airliners.net. So, if you want to contact him, the contact form can be helpful.

His site should be back online ASAP :!: :!:

I received this in an email the other day, just got home from Reno Air Races last night.

"Without any forewarning MidPase.com, my Webhost, has suspended my
website and consequently my use of email
Since I am about to leave for holidays I don't know where this will go.

This is what they sent me:
"Your site ruudleeuw.com was suspended because it consumed an
excessive amount
of resources.
One of our techs was doing a routine check on the server, and your
site was
consuming more than 72.54% of the servers RAM, more than 21.06% of the
server CPU.
Our policy is 10% of the entire servers resources.
The only way that we can get your site back online is if we go with a
VPS or
dedicated solution.
You can learn our offers via the following links:

midPhase Services, Inc.
support@... (e-mail support)
866-MIDPHASE (phone support)"

This is of course a suggestion far more expensive and done in a style
"knife to the throat' without
any forewarning (in itself a reason to discontinue use of MidPhase and
maybe even the website, as I
am frustrated by this enormously).
While suspension of my website is most inconvenient, suspension of my
emails is a disaster, amidst
final preparations of my holidays (awaiting airlne and rental final
confirmation)
. Think of this should you consider business with MidPhase.
Will keep you posted; meanwhile don't send me emails as they won't arrive.
