B-29 and B-18 pics from Lowry

The pics I promised you guys....shot in the early 90's at Lowry AFB, Denver....the B-18 is now ondisplay in the museum here, the B-29 went to Seattle as discussed in another thread...

Never heard a timetable on the Corsair, only thing I ever heard on it was they were supposed to have it on a 5 year 'loan' from the owner (and if I'm right, we're WAYYY past 5 years now) a guy I seem to recall who was named James Axtell of Denver who works in the oil fields somewhere over in the middle east for 6 months at a time and is only home for a few weeks before heading back over to work there again, making him very difficult to contact. I know Howard Pardue and a number of others have tried to buy the Corsair off of him, but he has so far resisted all offers, and I don't think the museum has permission to do anything but display the plane, but I'm not sure on this point. It was a former racer and still carries a -3350 engine from its 'race 94' days.
Maybe someday he'll retire and start working on it or give the museum permission to do something to it, like convert it to a warbird....who knows.

Yes, 'Race 94' is owned by Jim Axtell and last I heard (last year) the situation had not changed - it's on loan only and no modification or "restoration" can be made on the aircraft. I know several of the WoR guys really want to get their hands on it and restore it and paint it as 'Race 94', but again, the loan agreement says they can't. I would think that Mr. Axtell would be happy to have his airplane taken care of and made to look more presentable, but it's his plane and it's his choice to do with it what he wants, so I won't complain (much).

My records indicate that the Corsair raced at Reno in 1970, 1971 and 1972 by Robert Mitchum,

Were you stationed there?
I was stationed there in 1989-90 and you know, I was so busy with my training, I never realized they had static birds there!
