Wow, how could you tell that was a PBJ? Not much to go on (except for what was probably written on the back of the picture).
I was going to say I thought it was a Bristol Beaufighter, but then I saw your caption at the bottom.
Is there a story as to what caused its demise?

I am not aware of any VMB squadron PBJs assigned or "crashing" on Bouganville. Do you have any details on this particular PBJ, such as what VMB squadron she was assigned to?
