Question for a NMUSAF insider

Sat Oct 27, 2007 5:34 pm

I was visiting the muesum last weekend, and noticed that the Kettering model collection was missing (the Beautiful handmade models displayed along the wall outisde the cafeteria.) Any idea what happened to them? I've admired those models since I first visited the museum nearly 30 years.

I believe they are going to be placed inside one of the galleries. If memory serves me, I think the Cold War Gallery. My next day to volunteer is Friday the 2nd and I'll see if I can get an answer for you at that time unless someone beats me to it.

Thanks! I know the models may be considered passe by today's standards, but I'd hate to see the collection packed up and stuck in storage.

I believe that models are going in the Cold War Gallery as well. This weekdend they were setting the cases up in the one area by the EF-111.

I checked this moring while volunteering .... They are setting up the Kettering Models in the Berlin Hallway between Modern Flight and Cold War. It appears to be all new ID numbers, etc. So far only one of the cases is set up so I don't think they have finished the display.

Cool! Glad to hear the models will stay on display. The Berlin Airlift hallway seems like an odd location, though. I would think the area near the Bob Hope display might be a bit more appropriate.
