I have been taking a look at the warbird registry to see how many flying spits there are in North America.

I've come across the following in flying condition:

1.) Mk V: AR614, Vulcan Warbirds Inc, Seattle, WA, 2004-2005

3.) Mk VIII: MT818, Tillamook Air Museum, Tillamook, OR, 1997-2002 (but I understand it sold to a new owner)
4.) Mk IX: MJ730, Fighter Factory, Suffolk, VA, Mar. 23, 2000-2004
5.) Mk IX: MK912, Ed Russell, Ontario, Canada, 2003-2004

What's the largest amount of Spitfires put together at an airshow on this side of the pond? Are there any plans for a big gathering?

It looks like there's already a large number in flying condition, with a bunch more to take to the air soon!

Please, if anyone has more detailed information or corrections for the list I compiled, please post a reply.

Cheers,

David
