Actor's airplanes

Just thought I'd post this for the fun of it..

Cliff Robertson--Spitfire

Tom Cruise--P-51

Patrick Swayze--Cessna 421?

Worf--T-33, F-86

Harrison Ford--Beaver

Are they still flying them?

Cliff sold his Spit to Craig McCaw and it's at the MOF in Seattle.
Michael "Worf" Dorn now flies a Sabreliner
Tom Cruise never has flown his P-51
John Travolta sold his Vampire years ago

Cruise owns a Pitts S-2 that he apparently does fly (according to an interview he did a year or two ago).

John Travolta has graduated to large airliners. He flies a Boeing 707-138 out of his home airstrip (if you can call a 8500 ft runway an airstrip) in Anthony, Florida, near Ocala. It's painted in 1960's Qantas livery. He also operates a Gulfstream G-IV from the same strip.

Tulio Soto: PT-19A project.

I am not really an actor, but I play one in real life . . . : )

Saludos,

Tulio

He's also qualified as a 747 Captain, part of the deal with Quantas that got his 707 restored.

Tom Cruise came out to fly the B-17 while we were in Burbank a few months ago. He apparantly does fly his mustang with a qualified instructor.

Treat Williams owns and flies a T-6. Jim

Over on the AAFO.com board Matt Jackson said that he had flown with Cruise in a Mustang at least once, and I got the impression that there had been a full checkout.

Cliff Robertson's Spitfire

Although Cliff Robertson owned Spitfire MK923 for plus or minus 30 years I have no record of him actually flying it. He was certainly a pilot but perhaps his own good sense or possibly the film mogul insurers said this was a 'Warbird too far'.

Can anybody confirm?

Dave Gilmour - 1) Isn't an actor (he's a musician), 2) has sold his collection on, and 3) does anyone have any evidence that he ever flew his P-51 himself? AFAIK, it was flown for him by Norman Lees, and didn't fly regularly again in the UK after Norman's tragic accident in PV202. It has now returned to the USA.

Gary Numan, again a musician rather than an actor, and his Harvard has been repainted overall black for quite a number of years now.

I think M Dorn owned a Hispano 200 Seata trainer at one time.

Mon Nov 01, 2004 1:27 pm

Martin Shaw - Stearman (now slightly bent :( , although through no fault of the owner)

Mon Nov 01, 2004 1:44 pm

Morgan Woodward -"Boss" in the sunglasses in "Cool Hand Luke" and on "Dallas" owns a Stearman and used to have a Pt-19.

Harrison Ford - very active pilot and President of the EAA's Young Eagles program.
