I still think that there is a good chunk of it still in Texas. We do have a good bit of it now. It looks like pieces of a dinosaur.

It will probably be 20 yrs before that is put back together I assume with all the other projects the museum has going?

At Kelly Field next to Lackland AFB. I saw a few of the chunks of it when I was at the museum last week on my way up to New York.

I remember flying one time on South West Airlines coming back from the Air show in the Valley (1985) and flying over Kelly and And seeing C-5's lined up and over at the far end of the field seeing the XC-99 in the weed's.

Dose anybody know how it came to make its last flight to Kelly instead of the Bone yard ( Glad that it did not ) in Arziona ?
I had been told a story mind you a story over a few beers that it made a landing and tore up the Runway and it was Determined that it would not fly again because of the cost of repairs to it as well . any truth to this ?

Here's the link to the pictures I posted from Kelly AFB just about a year ago. More of it was missing when I saw it a couple of months ago but I didn't take any pics.

This is one other picture I recently found that I forgot to post last year. This is taken from the rear cargo elevator, looking forward.
