What's up with the lack of yellow tips on the prop? Does this indicate some field-level repaint, or was this a common thing in certain areas or with certain groups?

It looks like there may be painted tips, but too dark to see. The right tip in the photo looks like it could have a paint line.

Most of the P-39 photos I have are either black with no tip or
unpainted.
