Lucky Kizer, a bush mechanic in Dubbo, NSW. This is about 20 years old and first hit the world in Motorcyclist Magazine in the mid eighties. I still have it in my bike stuff scrapbook.
How much torque? "Bloody Heaps!"
A couple of years later, he showed up in the US on it with a blower on top!!

Ah. Jan. 1988 Motorcyclist, pp. 60-61. If I can locate a friend with a scanner, I'll send the whole article with some more pix.
"...with a sound like multiple shotgun blasts, the motor fires. The noise is astonishing."
Lucky also said of the Merlin....."Some say this engine was the best ever built by man; nothing matches it in performance or reliability."
One detail bugs me. The Merlin was 24 liters. This thing is supposed to be five. That would make the original a 30 liter engine. Guess he's bored and/or stroked it. He IS a machinist.
