I spoke with a nice gentleman at work today who was the tail gunner in a 8AF 379th BG B-17. He said they were shot down 10 APRIL 1945, all crew bailed out and survived. He was POW for 25 days.
Anybody have any information on losses that day?
His name is Bob Sommers.

Dante,
Found the following for 379th Bomb Group losses on 10 Apr 1945:
Acft: B-17G-100-BO SN 43-39003
on this page of Joe Baugher's site:
http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/1943_2.html
Looked, but found no other 379th losses listed on that day.

Dante,
I show a Robert F. Somoer shot down in a 379th B-17 # 43-37851 on 10 Ap '45. Mission was Orienburg and pilot was McFadden. Supposedly shot down by a ME-262. Bob was from Oregon, Mo.
Regards,
Hugh
