Indiana Locator

Mon Dec 03, 2007 9:41 am

I have finished the Indiana section of the Locator. I had more success with Indiana than I did with Illinois. I now turn it over to WIX...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php?Region=IN

If you are an Indiana aviation site expert, or have an interest in such sites, please go to the page via the link above and look for the big red + signs on the right side and read the request for help messages. If you have any info to contribute just click the red + and you will be taken to a form where many of the fields will already be filled out but you can also provide corrections. I will also include the "Need Help" entries below. The goal of this exercise is to…

#1: Make as many of the map links as accurate as possible. In other words I would like to see all map link accuracy indicators in the green.
#2: Improve the data for all locations.

Exact locations are preferred (but not necessary). If you know the exact location but don’t know how to get the coordinates you can get those from two sources. Source #1 is Google Earth…

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator_Map ... oogleEarth

Source #2 is Google Maps…

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator_Map ... GoogleMaps

I am looking forward to any assistance you may be able to provide.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

P.S. Before anyone points it out… Yes I know Chicago is in Illinois and not Indiana. I will be creating an error in one entry in the next upload.

Yep. Got the note. If you happen to know which hangar the "group" is in that would be helpful.

It is in the Indiana list. I did add the URL you provided to the data file. I have a UH-1 and Beech 18 noted there, but the website doesn't say anything about aircraft. Any others? Thanks Brandon.

The updates and changes will appear after tonight's upload.

I have received a few emails and submissions direction to the website as a result of this thread. I have been able to reduced the "Need Help List". The reduced list is included below.

I have also just completed an upload, so the latest and greatest is in the Locator at...

Mike

Here is the latest "Need Help List"...

#3: Columbus, Columbus Municipal Airport – A gent by the name of Mike Williams has a DH-82 business here. Is his operation accessible to the public? If so which hangar does he occupy at the airport?

#6: Crane - Apparently there is an A-4 displayed in front of a 'Building #1' at the Naval Weapons Support Center. If so where exactly is it? Is it accessible to the public?

#7: Elkhart, Elkart Municipal Airport – Which hangar does the Northern Indiana Aviation Museum occupy at the airport?

#10: Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Municipal Airport / Baer Field - Is there a F-86 and UH-1 displayed at the ANG or elsewhere around the airport?

#11: Indianapolis, Crawfordsville - Apparently there is a T-33 displayed at a VFW in Fort Harrison. If so where exactly is it?

#12: Indianapolis, Indianapolis Executive Airport – This airport is home to the CAF Indiana Wing. Which hangar do they occupy?

#14: Indianapolis, Indianapolis International Airport – The Vincennes University Aviation Technology Center apparently has a ground instruction U-8 at the airport. Is it accessible to the public? If so where exactly is it?

#15: Indianapolis, Stout Army Airfield (formerly) – The Stout Field Military Equipment Museum is at this former airfield. Which building do they occupy?

#16: Kokomo, Kokomo Municipal Airport - There may be a F-101 displayed at an AFA near Kokomo. If so where exactly is it?

#19: Shelbyville, Shelbyville Municipal Airport - Apparently there are as many as seven UH-1s stored in row behind one of the hangars without the main and tail rotors. If so where exactly are they?

#22: Terre Haute, Hulman Regional Airport - Apparently Ivytech Vocational State College has a facility at the airport with a H-13 and U-21 in the inventory. Can you confirm? If so where exactly are they located?

#23: Terry, Terry Municipal Airport – Is the CAF Indiana Wing actually located here? If so which hangar do they occupy?

The most recent addition is the half-mile runway and new hangar to accommodate the museum's vintage aircraft.
I see a Stearman depicted on their site at a minimum.

Lookie here:

http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry ... t_option=5

I'm guessing that these will be going in the new hangar.

Ivytech has closed its operation at Hulman Airport told me the choppers were moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. The plane below is located at Krietenstein American Legion Post 104 in Terre Haute. The Air Guard at Hulman Airport has one of these, a F-100 super Sabre and a Phantom. I couldn't take pics at the Field because the Public Affairs Officer was on his/her two weeks off for the holidays, I guess.....

this plane is at the legion post

Just to be clear... This is not the same F-84 as the one at American Legion Post 40 across town who also have a F-84? I am not talking about the one in the guard display. The reason I ask is that I can't see the F-84 at the address for Post 104 (2690 FT HARRISON RD, Terre Haute, IN) in Google Earth. It looks like fresh paint. Is it a new display?

Isn't there a F-84 in front of the court house in Terre Haute?

Mon Mar 17, 2008 10:43 pm

this is the same plane that was in the other two (2) locations, but this the new location for a while, it seems to move around alot, i look at Google Earth on my house, its seems to out of date by about two years, I can tell be the car I no longer have..
