P-47N Junkyard

Thu Nov 04, 2004 11:55 pm

I am wondering if anyone here knows about a group of P-47N's with USAF markings piled in pieces in a dirt, grass field? It looks like the Philippines or the South Pacfic. I am finishing (late) my book on WW2 surplus aircraft and would like to include this photo if I can identify when and where it was taken. Some readable serial numbers are 44-88070, 88149, 88161, 88738, 88912, 88288, 88412, 88840, 87922 and 88802.

Hi Bill,
Unfortunately your photo didn't show. Great to see you on the board though, and I'm really looking forwards to your book. When do you think it will be coming out?

Cheers,
Richard
