VB-2 was a subject of one of my other favorite books "Dauntless Helldivers" by Harold Buell. Buell was the only pilot present at all the major carrier versus carrier engagements, even if not necessarily taking part in active combat: Coral Sea, Midway, Eastern Solomons, Santa Cruz and the Phillipine Sea battles...and lived.
