A while ago I post a P-40 YouTube vid. in the last part of it it covers the No. 112 Sqd in North Africa. In one of the scenes is show a Tomahawk taxing to take off. On the side of it someone painted a the Pontiac automotive logo.
I was wondering if anyone here knew more about this. Any idea who this was and why they did it?
Thanks

Thanks
I've been there, I may shoot an email to the guy and see what he has to say.
Just seemed like there would be an interesting story behind a American automotive emblem on RAF aircraft in the middle of North Africa.

Could Pontiac have been building Allisons?
It looks like GM did build Allisons...
As a Pontiac fan and a fan I would also like to hear an explanation
Looks like they made Torpedos and Anti Aircraft guns...

EDIT: Here is an ebay ad from GM about building Allisons for P-40's...

The Pontiac and Tomahawk tie in is kind of cool.

Thanks Shay. Balquhidder eh, nice one, the place where Rob Roy was laid to rest. I am from Clydebank near Glasgow. It is the place that the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary and QE2 were all built, along with many other ships. Sadly no ships built here now. Also a company called Beardmore used to build aircraft and airships in the area in the early years of last century. A little local history. Hope you get on OK with your search. Best of luck to you.
