Aircraft SCRAP yards in North america.... One mans junk ....

Mon Feb 04, 2008 1:37 pm

Does anyone know of Canadian / US / Mexican Scrap yards?

I would be interested in finding some pieces for various -parts -"art" projects:

Ie: Control Grips (fighter) for a gift for an outlaw's keg machine ...
burner cans . art ....etc...

Also I think it would be interesting to see photos of what all is out there.....

V

Any voodoo stuff?

HILL AFB is a DRMO so any aircraft that was at hill could be represented..they also are a resto and rennovation facility so lots of different types have transitioned through the area.

Unfortunately, you may have a really hard time getting engine parts away from a scrap dealer as well as most rotables because..GASP! Tell me it ain't so.there have been several cases of people buying junked or run out turbine parts, giving them the old Tijuana overhaul with a pressure washer and slapping 'SERVICABLE' tags on them. There were a couple of pretty high profile instances of this happening to, amongst others, British Air and I think some 747 parts-can anyone else fill in the details?
