New Japanese Warbird

I just found this out from a reliable source. The Fighter Factory is rebuilding a Ki-61 to flying condition, unbelievable. Evidently they are using four airframes from Papua New Guinea for the restoration. No news is shown on their website.

Hi Harvard IV

If we are talking about Wangaratta Australia Fighter Factory / Murray Griffiths then they have been aquiring parts for a while now and have Robert Grienerts aircraft remains on display. I would think you are talking more than a single rebuild here based on the evidence and I am sure it will all come out soon.

The story of the rebuilds of the Vengances and Kingfishers was in the recent Flightpath and will also be interesting as is the A20 stuff and P39 and P40 rebuilds .

A lot happening there !!!!

Hi Chris

Thanks for that - very confusing having Fighter Factories scattered about building stuff - at least 4 I can think of.

KI-61

Precision Aerospace is building a KI-61 Hien for the Fighter Factory.
Tony No299 was abandoned at Alexishafen.
It will be great to see one fly if they can find a small pilot.

Hi Dave

Is it true that the Yanks have suspended their moon ambitions because they found a Halifax, Whitley, Stirling and Ta152 plus sundry other stuff there all being worked on by Cees B - Holland indeed - and now that it has been rumbled the whole lot , Cees included are also moving to Wangaratta.

Yes yes I know I have blown your surprise but thats life live with it ....
