I just found this out from a reliable source. The Fighter Factory is rebuilding a Ki-61 to flying condition, unbelievable. Evidently they are using four airframes from Papua New Guinea for the restoration. No news is shown on their website.

They are indeed building a Type III army fighter. They are looking for a Homare HA40 engine to restore to flight status. If anybody on the WIX board has any leads to Japanese warbird parts piles, get in touch with me or them.

Hello:
I know they had found these Ki-61's in PNG, but what province and when? Original from PNG, or through other owners? Did he get the one from Kermit weeks, or is this a recent recovery? I never thought another one woud be found.
