Doolittle Raid Crew #8 in USSR (link to photos of a/c)

Saw this interesting link over at Hyperscale.com this morning. First time *I've* seen actual pics of the "landed in Russia" plane. Looks ready to fly out.

I had read that she was destroyed in a hangar fire & that their have been KGB paperwork that said that it existed in USSR as late as 1956.............................This truly would be the "holy grail" for warbirds if infact it still existed and the fire was untrue.

Besides the artifacts at the NMUSAF on display in their Doolittle Raid shadow boxes, the NASM in D.C. had a small stringer on display near Flak Bait's nose in the WWII gallery back in the early 80s (still?) that the caption said was from Doolittle's actual plane. It was about a foot long, maybe a little less, just the right size for one of the crew to pick up and cart home as their 'piece' of the famous plane.

I own a piece of the B-25 "Ruptured Duck" About the size of a stamp, but that is as close as I am ever going to get. I got it through Ellen lawson.

CenTex Wing CAF in San Marcos has one of the actual seats out of Doolittles plane. (Armor plate anyway)

I am led to believe that there is still a B25 in the former USSR that may have been on the Tokyo raid.

I got one of the emails from the guy that found the picture. He didn't think that much more was going to come forward. I've put most of the information I have up on the research page at http://www.doolittleraid.com.
I personally think that the guys in Russia did scrap the plane. If they hadn't, I think it would've likely come forward by now from someone seeing dollar signs.
