What is it, where is it, and when? Extra points for the name of the man who flew this type from this location a number of decades earlier, and was back...

That would be a picture of a partially extended flap of a P-47 Thunderbolt. Judging by the color, I would hazard a guess and say it is POF's P-47G "Spirit of Atlantic City, NJ" back when it had full invasion stripes.

I would assume No Guts No Glory, Duxford, but wouldn't have a clue as to the who or where.

'tis the Zemke-marked one in the AAM at Duxford, I believe. It shares the same identity as Tom Duffy's (formerly TFC's) 'No Guts, no Glory' - both are 'bitsas' based on the remains of the same crashed airframe with all the parts mixed up.

Any guesses as to the date the photo was taken (the clue is the stripes) and the P-47 pilot who was at Duxford on 'that date'?
