Possible Halifax recovery in Germany

Mon Dec 06, 2004 12:48 pm

It's about BB214 and it was recently discussed on the 57rescue forum:

Divers visited the wreck a few years ago . It seemed to be in one piece, only the tail is missing. The Pilot tryed to bring down the burning plane in lake Laach, but the tail broke away and crashed in the gras next to the lake - . Like an arrow the Halifax dived into the water where she lays a few meters under water , forgotten to this day.
There are plans to recover the plane - if possible.

Now that would be a very interesting project to follow up close.

Cees--

Wow...wouldn't it! Anyone from Nanton listening?? I'm guessing that if this Hali is intact (or nearly so), she'd be a more viable recovery than the one in the Irish Sea, for a museum of relatively modest means. What version is this Hali?

BTW...I'm not advocating bringing this one up and not the ocean Hali. Let's bring both of them up, says I...
