Similar to the Spitfire, did this design evolve into a WWII Fighter? Does anyone know what company built it?

SChnider Trophy have induced many of very valuable research in the sphere of materials, technology and aerodynamics. Most important at all is the wide use of metal propeller [pattented by Italians before WW1]

Didn't Doolittle fly one of these planes? I believe at least one of the Army's Air racers was a Curtiss flown by Doolittle...
