Is their a way to paint an aircraft, with a temp paint job, that would last a few days?

It's done with mop-n-glow but it's a bitch to get off.
The FHC P-40C has a old temp paint job and it really looks ugly

Like Jack said they make a lot of temporary paint out of floor wax and it is your typical movie paint. Removing it in small sections isn't too bad but think stripping car or floor wax for removal. It is labor intensive.

Stu Dawson's Sea Fury (race 105, The Spirit of Texas), was once painted with that "temporary" paint, as "The Incredible Universe" airplane at the Phoenix Air Races (owned by Chuck LeShe at the time). To this day, there's a high likelihood that there is still some of that paint in different nooks and crannies of that airplane. My point is that it doesn't just come right off, as rumored. I've not had a personal experience with applying it, but I've understood that's not a cheap endeavor either.

At POF we did several A/C for movies including Spads for Flight of the Intruder. Sprayed quite dry and left a semi gloss finish. Was hard to remove. In the late 70's a movie was started but not completed on the Red Tail squadron. The POF Mustang was painted with silver paint and we ended up using avgas to remove that paint.

Yeah, I did some paintwork on my Stearman for a Taco Bell commercial years ago. I used Mop-N-Glo and paint pigment paste you get from the paint store. Sprayed it on with a standard spray gun. It took a lot of coats to cover, but I was trying to cover a green stripe with yellow. Ammonia window cleaner takes it off, but that isn't very good for metal (nor fabric). It'll flake off by itself eventually if you can wait that long, especially if you leave it outside. Not very durable on leading edges if you fly in the rain either.

You use ammonia to remove the mop-N-glo based movie paint.....it is indeed hard word. It took quite a few man hours to remove the Pearl Harbor movie paint from our P-40's and the Permanent paint under it never did look the same. It was a serious pain in the A**. But, that paint was also on the airplanes for a long period of time so, it might be easier to remove if it's only on there for a short period.

When we removed the movie paint from the Kate after Pearl Harbor we had the ammonia but found out high pressure washer "Hotsy" worked just as good. Paint was only on a couple of weeks so maybe that made it easier.

I say you just do like the DFW Wing did for "Fat Man/Little Boy". Tell them they can do whatever they want with the exterior paint, but when it's over they pay for a complete repaint of the plane.
BTW, anyone know of a movie that needs a DC-3/C-47/R4D? We need a new paint job again...

In the UK they mix pigment with liquid soap. Piece of piss to wash off with a hose...
