I got 6 or 8 airborne and a few static. It was a nice one. Mark's pics are probably of better quality, he has good gear.

It should be a pretty good WIXLA meeting this year actually. Here are a couple of highlights from the agenda.

ASSERTING OWNERSHIP OF AIRSHOW VISITOR'S PHOTOS. Guest speaker Ed Russell will discuss the implications of different digital camera sensor sizes in forcing photographers to sign over their rights to their own photos if they carry a lens of more than a certain focal length. If you don't yet have a "crop factor clause" in your photographer registration form, this will be a must-attend.

THE KC-X CONTRACT. A panel discussion on whether Boeing-loving Wixers will start sending us chocolates now that lawyers have begun to claw back the DOD's decision on the tanker contract.

NOSE ART SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT. Reporting on progress toward making it impossible for any warbird to carry authentic wartime nose art. Open forum on whether World War II itself can be trademarked.

Get your tickets quickly, space is filling up.

I will be at Geneseo, but on my Harley.
I would love to fly the PT23 there but by my calculations, 1000 miles each way from Mid Florida at 15 gal. per hr @ $5.50 a gal= DIVORCE CITY!
The open cockpit is way too small to live in for the rest of my life.

A little background info on 10618:

Built by Fleet Aircraft Ltd of Fort Erie, Ontario as part of order for 251 Cornell Mk.II's purchased by the RCAF. Hence this aircraft has no USAAF serial number as it was not built on a Lend-Lease contract. Therefore it may not be strictly accurate to call it a PT-26 and is referred to in all RAF and RCAF documents as a Cornell Mk.II.

Fleet c/no. FC119.
Taken on strength by RCAF March 19,1943 and assigned to No.4 Training Command.
Served with No.34 Elementery Flying Training School at Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. This was an RAF flying school in Canada until taken over by the RCAF in early 1944 and renumbered No.25 E.F.T.S. The unit trained mainly RAF airman shipped over from the UK, initially training on DH.82C Tiger Moths until these were replaced by Cornells early in 1943 and school closed down in July 1944. There is no definite proof from 10618's record card but likely the aircraft remained in service at Assiniboia until July 1944 and was then held in Reserve Storage until sold off in Canada during October 1946.

What happened after that is something of a mystery.... to me anyway. It was registered as C-GVEH in 1984 to an owner in Manitoba until cancelled as exported to the USA in 1993 and registered N103JC. Has been flying in it's present markings since at least 1997/98 when restored by Joe Denest at West Chester, PA for an owner in NY State.

An excellent example in a superb finish judging from the photos I have seen.
