(CGI) Warbirds In New "Mummy" Movie

Sun Jun 29, 2008 2:40 pm

I didn't even know this one was in production until I stumbled across a trailer online a few days ago. Looks like it's due out in August.

Anyhoo, there were some quick shots of what appeared to be a Beaufighter (including interior shots with a six or eight seat passenger compartment!) One shot showed it crash-landing on skis. Another showed it strafing an army of un-dead..somethings..with what a appeared to be a P-40 alongside.

I loved the first "Mummy" movie, but thought the sequel sucked ditch water. It'd be nice if this one redeemed the franchise, but I can't say I'm particularly optimistic.

Looks like fun - Hey, maybe the next sequel could be a remake of The Wrestling Women vs. the Aztec Mummy

Hmm, CG Beauliner and no Rachel Weisz. I'll pass.

I liked the first one the best also but the second was not to bad.
Look foward to this one.
Thanks for the heads up.

"Beauliner"..I love that! I noticed the CGI artists must have used an Aussie-built Beau as a reference..the autopilot "bump" is visible on the nose.

I also noticed the absence of Rachel Weisz (they've cast a different actress to play the same character.) Doesn't bode well. Still, I enjoy a good "grab a bucket of extra-greasy popcorn and turn of your brain" movie on occasion.

i saw the movie today the beauliner is awsome it's even in weatherd raaf markings  the green ghost sqdrn codes sk-n(the real plane was known as babs or pislol packnig gremlin).
the interior was pretty stuffed up as later they used it's guns and the engine sound seemed wrong, but looked great.
must be an aussei or two on the fx team
sorry to drag up an old thread but i was exited

At least they used a "Merlin" sound for the P-40.

Very accurate sound mixing at least. :)

And translated for our non-Australian readers...
The unfortunate Beafighter sounded like two broken-down Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation Winjeels* in formation, but still please the eye. ;)
