Vought SB2U-1 Vindicator

Hi all

been a while, thought I would ask about the Vindicator.
How many still exist? did they see active military service?
any current restorations underway?

To my knowledge, there is one remaining example.
It resides in Pensacola.

Navy records state that 2 were lost into lake Michigan. One of which was recovered and is no on display at the NMNA. The other is waiting.

VMSB-231 and VMSB-241 were the only units to take the Vindicator into combat.

Dick Fleming's MOH attack at Midway is probably the most memorable episode. Some good info at the following:
