Mariner photo

Mon Jul 21, 2008 1:57 pm

The first Mariner for the RAF, JX103, seen at the Saunders-Roe modification facility at Beaumaris, Anglesey, North Wales. Hangars and hardstandings were built near Fryars House, seen in the background. The house still exists, as does the slipway into the Menai Strait. Coronados and Catalinas were also handled here. The RAF decided that it didn't like the Mariner for several reasons and returned the small number delivered to the USN.[img][/img]
