The Snort thread got me thinking how overdue a flyable F-86D (or other dog variant) is. Just wondering if we'll see one in skies anytime soon?

I'm with you Shay.
I would like to know what came of the Dog Sabre that museum down in Wichata, or Texas, or some place like that, had for sale? That one looked like a good candidate at a decent price. One of those "Wish I had the money" kinda things.....

Seeing an F-86D or F-86L back in the air would be outstanding - one of the warbirds at the top of my list to see flying. I have heard the the engine with afterburner and its fuel control system is one of the problems in bringing one of these beauties back to flying status. Apparently more problematic than the engines in the other versions of the Sabres.

Unless he abandoned it, Randy Ball still has one in the works....

Since his F-86L was up for sale a year or so ago and the website still says "hoping for a first flight sometime in 2006," I am not overly optimistic about this one (but I would LOVE to see it happen).
