F4U-5 EXHAUST

What's the deal between these pipes -5P VS -5N,My only guess would be one is a nightfighter.

See, you didn't even have to ask. Under the Solar shield is the exhaust pipe with a choked down hoseshoe outlet on the N.

The other "tube" below the cannons on the LH side is a spot light for gunnery practice while chasing the "bad guy", there are prisms on the wing tip trailing edges along with the tail that reflect the light back to the "attacking" pilot.

The different exhausts on the night fighter variant seem to make a very different, much more throaty engine sound for that type too. It's a very cool beast indeed!
