Greetings all,
this is the plane used in CapeGloucester and it look like that it have one darker band in front of the white tail. This band is similar in color to the greay scale of the national insignia and this is the reason that I use blue.... bevare of this detail. Other plane from unit does not have any band but I have seen just few of them.
Any idea?

I have seen this before, but it was masking tape with overspray making the mask line look darker.
There are some pretty good pics out there. (not P-40's IIRC)

Can you point me on the address of this pictures you have mention?

Sorry, I have no clue where I saw them.
I don't know if it even was on the web, I have quite a few books too.
Maybe someone else can help.

2105288, or 210528?
That band is a puzzler, I agree. Rogue's theory of it being the result of a masking 'line' has credibility, especially as there's a clear over-spray beyond it. But it seems darker than the camouflage and as Mgawa has stated, looks closer in hue to the marking blue. This is why profiles are hard to get 'right'!
Nice one, and interesting comparison.

I agree the "mask line" is darker than OD, in that pic.
The one I was thinking of was not.
Great Profile, and Great Pic.
(Notice the earlier/different roundel in pic)

Band is very sharp and this what seem to be spray could be also dirt. Making correct profile is very hard if you try to work on less know topic.
Thank you for attention

Thanks for the revised version! Whatever the subject, profiles are always tricky and generally have to be regarded as an interpretation of the subject. It's dangerous to claim to be definitive, IMHO.
The narrow dark band is confusing, I agree. The 'overspray' could be 'dirt', but why there in particular? I think the whole aircraft looks grubbier in the photo, but again that's a matter of interpretation.
The hard lines on the (in field applied) while markings elsewhere on the other a/c don't show the overspray, but that proves nothing either way. The dark narrow band also looks to me to be tapered; but that could just be the fuselage shape...
As Rogue also pointed out the US star and bar seem much larger on the photo.
Cheers,

Dirt can be seen also arround the start which is larger then this one the profile.... yes, larger remained in the invisible layer and was flatten down

So dirt is all arround. Also take a note about the perception and that we have two colors much contrasting and that the same details could look different.
All right- no definitive answr about band. This is the core of this topic. In this way i will check again whole profile and flat it down. maybe some other subject to take...
Cheers

Any chance the band could be section/flight markings, the aircraft marked A appears to have the same band though slightly lighter just noticeable in front of L’s belly tank.

Further to this topic a bit further info on Aircraft D "TONI II" and Aircraft W of the same unit. Both aircraft are discribed as the following.
Aircraft D - The entire tail section and leading edges of the wings are painted "White". The lower side cowling of the nose section bore a large letter "D" "yellow" in colour. Also the word "Toni" and roman numerals "II". This was painted in "Yellow" and outlined in "blue". The nose spinner was also painted in bright "yellow".
Aircraft W - The entire tail section and the leading edges of the wing were painted white. The lower side cowling of the nose section bore a large letter "W", yellow in colour. The nose spinner was also painted Bright Yellow.
No mention of bands of blue on the rear fuselage.
Of particular interest is aircraft D, as it is shown in photos to have the so called blue band on it, where as the reports make no mention of the blue band.
