Wildcat at Museum of Flight

There is a Wildcat undergoing restoration at the Museum of Flight facility at Paine Field (according to the website).

The one on display at the main facility at Boeing Field doesn't belong to the museum of flight. Who's Wildcat is it? I remember someone writing that here, but I don't remember who.

tom cathcart did the resto on it for the MOF but it belongs to the navey and is on loan... long story but the navy was very spacific when the started resto to airworthy and were told if they continue the navy would reposess the acft so it was a static resto

Mike, I thought I remember someone here on the WIX saying the Wildcat on display came from the Olympic Flight Museum and will be on loan there until their own Wildcat comes out of restoration. If thats the case its either Bu 12296 or Bu 86690. Pat

true enough.... there is a wildcat F4F-3 on loan to them but it is John Dimmer's acft that he lets the Olympic flight museum use as well as his FM-2.. the MOF wildcat is a loaner from the navy and john dimmer's -3 is on a one year loan and will either come out this summer or be renagotiated for a longer stay
