This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I will be there next week. Good timing Hellcat.
Anything in Pahrump or Kingman? I've visited the Kingman Airport before, and there isnt much there as far as warbirds. I did spot a T-28 last time.

I'm suprised that Mike Henniger's website hasn't become a sticky by now. Anyone that reads this forum on a regular basis should be familiar with Mike's site at
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php This will show you the locations of all known aircraft in the area, whether in museums, or at a local park.

Indeed I am aware now, what a very cool and informative website. But not much in LV. I guess I'll just have to stick to gambling and cat houses ... hehehe
Actually I'm going to try to ask some of my local pals if they know of any secret stashes of warbirds ... I'll take photos if anything comes up ...

I'll be flying into McCarren, last time i was there I saw a small aircraft above the baggage claim. If I see any of the ones you have listed I'll try and snap a pic.

You can go and see the Janet Airways 737's. They are all white with red stripes on them. They are just another airline. Right?

The CAF used to have an all-black A-26 up at North Las Vegas airport (VGT) back in the late 1990s when I lived there.
If you want to drive a couple hours up Highway 95 to Beatty, there is a Beech 18 wreck out in front of one of the "ranches" by the side of the road.

I have flown airshows at Nellis twice, and it was interesting to see the current military equipment there. One interesting display they had was the array of missles and weapons that were fitted to different aircraft. These days with the paranoia from 9-11, I don't know if they have any sort of visitor days at Nellis, might be worth a call.
I don't think the CAF is active there anymore, but there is still some private aviation and a few sport type planes at N. Las Vegas airport and there is a nice cafe to visit upstairs in the FBO. Better than some smoke filled casino.

There used to be a C-124 Globemaster sitting near McCarren Airport. Is it still there? I believe it was going to be made into a restaurant, but that never happened. It was painted blue and white when I saw it in 1995.
Cheers!

No, I believe the C-124 was scrapped by the person that owned it.

From Wiki
A C-124 s/n 53-0044, one of the last two Air National Guard C-124s to be retired in 1974, was located for many years on the corner of Koval Lane and Reno Avenue near McCarran International Airport in Paradise, Nevada. Numerous plans were made to use the aircraft for advertising, display, and even as a restaurant, but nothing came of this, and over the years the aircraft's condition deteriorated. In 1996 an attempt was made by the city of Las Vegas to acquire by eminent domain the 10,500-square-foot (980 m2) area where the plane sat.[citation needed] The land was to be used for a highway bypass. The action was postponed during a lengthy court case that was eventually won by the land owner. In 2003 the land was finally sold at a substantially greater price to the City of Las Vegas to accommodate the bypass and the C-124 was scrapped shortly afterwards. Several of the aircraft's gauges and instruments were later sold on eBay.
