Question for Setter re: A-20s

Fri Jan 14, 2005 7:56 pm

John - whats the status of those Havocs at Precision, when might they get under roof for restoration, and how many will be rebuilt to fly? Can't wait to hear about these. Thanks.

Hi George

The A20 s or parts thereof are already at Wang and a wing is already in the Jig - my understanding is the rest of the parts are due to arrive when the P40 wing for the RAAF Museum is completed and the final swap takes place.

3 or 4 machines will be rebuilt to fly with two going to the states and one staying here in Aus - these guys don't muck around so I imagine good progress this year on this front.

Which reminds me, what happened to that A-20 someone bought from www.warbird.at a couple years ago? I guess it came out of eastern Russia (Kuriles)?

Hi

Didn't the Russian one go to someone in the UK to aid a current restoration effort?
