Abandoned F-11 Tiger in the woods

"A 1997 photo by Paul Cotrufo of a Grumman F-11 Tiger (BuNo. 138639),
which sits where it was dropped in the woods, southwest of Oak Grove."
Paul Cotrufo flew over Oak Grove in 1997, and remarkably also located a Grumman F-11 Tiger which remains where it was dropped in the woods, one mile west-southwest of Oak Grove. His explanation about the Tiger: "It was being airlifted to a museum in SC and something went wrong with the helicopter and they dropped the plane to keep from crashing. I have noticed three F-11 Tigers in Eastern NC; all were from VT-26, Chase Field, TX."

A local museum, where I volunteer, recently aquired a F11F along with an A-7 from the USS Intrepid museum. We have also aquired some airforce planes: F-100, F-101, F-102, F-105, F-84F.

Hi
So this is the "Tiger Woods" aircraft is it. Seems a bit bunkered or in the rough to me - I'd go for a Sand wedge myself.

Maybe, but I'd think Tiger Woods would rather fly his own personal 767 with a miniature golf course inside.

Any kind of wedge would help(Skidders are great for "Wedging" there way into places like that! In Maine the Skidder Golf Cart is all the rage! Carries many golf bags and you can cut your own course were ever you perfer. I'm not sure Tiger Woods would aprove, though. Skidders are mighty tuff on the greens......and the fairway..........and the sand trap.........and the rough!
