This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Wixer's
As you may know, here at The Fighter Collection (
http://friends-of-tfc.blogspot.com/ ) we're rebuilding the ex Ray Stutsman P-47G to flying condition.
During its years flying in the states, did wix members take the opportunity to photograph the aircraft in-flight or on the ground?
If you have, would you post them here, or pm me your shots.
Any interesting stories of its find or rebuild by Ray would be most welcome.

This is a photo of me performing a carburetor adjustment after an inspection when I was at the Lone Star Flight Museum, and this would be circa 1997 or 98.

Ray Stutsman with Peter Arnold in the back.
Here's one of my tribute A-2 jacket
Ray Stutsman sent me the formation flight & Beckham pics, and the others were sent to me by WIX member John Kerr. I have others I can post later.

Still the best looking P-47 yet restored. I have 100 pics or so. You'll do well to make her look as good as she used to.

Martyn,
I will check with my family to see what pictures we have. As far as stories, what kind would you like. I can remember one time my brother and I were out on our Father's grass strip and Ray made a low pass/straffing run. It was fast and low enough that both me and my brother were blown backwards about ten feet. I have already made the promise to myself that as soon as "Little Demon" is back in the air, I will come and see it. Man do I miss that bird!!!
Also, are you leaving the jump seat in it or are you removing it? If you are leaving it in will you have any kind of ride program? That was the worst thing for me, I was too young to ride in it but both my brothers got a ride with Ray.

Martyn,
Please keep us up to date on this build. As many know, this is the plane of my heart.
Not the particular aircraft but the memory of my Pop. Can't wait to see her or hear of her first return to flight. Razorbacks are the best!

My first warbird ride was with Ray in Little Demon. What a great airplane. Started a life long fascination with Thunderbolts.
I have a bunch of great pictures of her through the years, including one with a tree growing through her at Hardwick's back lot.
Years ago I interviewed Ray about the restoration and have a lot of photos as well. I suppose when it gets back in the air all that stuff will end up in Warbird Digest.
Last I heard Ray was still alive and kicking although suffering from Parkinsons.
