I remembered seeing this a few years ago and just happened to find it again.

Maybe a little late, or just a great way to dispose of all those left over pumpkins.

They use to do that at Geneseo when the shows were in September. Later they switched to watermelons when they moved the show to August.
It was a lot of fun!

Pretty Sweet. Haven't seen too many Halloween related threads.
Do we know what B-25 that was? Pumpkins, Watermelons..It doesn't matter! I think throwing or even better, bombing with produce is the way to go! I remember seeing video from the Wings of Eagles airshow and remember nothing but pumpkins dropping from B-25s and B-17s. Though I don't think I've seen too much in recent years of this under-practiced art!

Back in the late 1980's I was flying jumpers at a parachute club in Hinckley Ill in a C-180. On halloween, two jumpers approached the airplane with a 10 lb pumpkin and a plan to take it in freefall with them and pass it back and forth. Being rather fond of my private pilot ticket, I would not agree to fly them. The parachute club owner stepped in and said that he would fly the load and keep an eye on them to make sure that no one got into trouble. The drop zone was located in farm country with a home about every square mile. As luck would have it, the pumpkin went through a farmhouse roof and turned their kitchen orange...... it made the front page of USA Today and cost the pilot his ticket for 6 months.

years ago,flying into compton CA airport my buddy was shot at landing his plane by a bunch of compton gang bangers who's house was close to the airport,he being a good pilot and a bowler and good on the memory,landed his plane and went to his car,opened the trunk and proceeded to load up his bowling ball,went for another flight and dropped it,it went straight through their roof and exploded in the house, the gangers all jumped in the car and met him and the police when he landed, the best part is the cops went to the scene of the crime and found a drup lab at their house and arrested them all and shook their head at my buddy...I don't think they messed with a pilot again after that....a true story too...no bs....he's also the guy who would fly soo low to the water screwing around that he bent his prop backwards under power and made it home....and he lived and then died an old man, a true barnstormer...

Actually, we cleaned the little town we were in out of floor. We took two pick up trucks and filled them with 5 lb flour bags. I think we made four runs, with about 400 lbs of flour in each run... Greg Morehead has some great pictures of it, and I guess there is video of it as well.

I don't think the skydive school there at GSH was very happy with us since we were using their pea gravel landing pad as the target.

Good times...almost makes me wish I had the airplane back...except for the >$5.00 fuel!
