Pre War Birds

Here are a few photos from my Father in Law's collection. He was a Navy Electricians Mate and served on the USS Lexington pre war among many other ships.

Whoa!

Is that first pictured is turned 90 degrees left?

A little close to the edge huh?!

What is that airplane in the last Picture?

Nice stuff!

Great stuff!

Thanks for sharing.

You might want to crop before posting next time - then it's max interest, min border.

Great types we don't see enough of.

Thanks. The last aircraft is a Great Lakes BG-1 I believe. I might have the designator wrong but the manufacturer is right. I am not sure if it is an original design to Great Lakes or one of those circumstances where one company won the design contest but another was chosen for production.

The first aircraft is a Vought Corsair on USS Lexington. The Vindicator flight is similar but not exactly the same as a more popular photo usually seen in some books. I have a few more but most of the photos are of ships.
