FJ-4B INCIDENT(minor damage) PENSACOLA 11-13-08

Here are 3 pictures of the FJ-4B, N400FS, 143575, taken at the practice air show at Pensacola NAS this afternoon. Sorry for the quality of the 2nd shot, but was busy shooting something else when I quickly turned and saw it sliding down the runway. Pilto Richard Sugden not injured. Sorry I have no further information. Photo by me.

That makes my stomach sick... I'm glad he's ok.... that's a wonderful aircraft... wasnt it an OSH award winner?

Wow! That is sad to see but it looks like damage was minimal and the pilot ok.

Glad that he is O.K. The aircraft doesn't look too bad. I think it did win best jet at Oshkosh a few years back.

I was very scared to start looking at the pictures posted. It is GREAT to see that the pilot is out safe and the aircraft is not a total loss.
I really enjoyed seeing it fly at TOM a few years back and I'm looking forward to seeing it again (I hope someday soon). I won't be heading down to Pensacola this weekend liked I had hoped so it will have to be in the air.

John, it's a shame about the beautiful classic but so good to hear all is well with the pilot.... Excellent Capture BTW!

VERY Glad to hear that Rich Sugden is Okay. And I am glad to see that the FJ-4B Fury appears to be largely intact.
Hopefully the Fury will be able to be repaired and be back on the air show circuit in 2009. It's a one of a kind and beautiful jet warbird.
I enjoyed seeing Dr. Sugden fly it at Thunder over Michigan in 2005 and I hope to see it again someday.

Glad to hear the pilot's OK..hopefully the bird isn't bent too bad. I saw the Fury fly at Thunder Over Michigan a couple years back..she's a real beauty!

Good that pilot is not hurst and I really hope that this airplane will be soon back in air. Very interesting airplane, in the december issue of magazine SAM from bedford will be article about the Fury.

A vintage Navy jet practicing for an air show landed on its belly Thursday after its landing gear failed. The plane was not a Blue Angel aircraft. The landing was about 12:50 p.m. at Pensacola Naval Air Station, said Harry White, NAS spokesman. The pilot of the single-seat jet was not hurt, White said. Some grass caught fire near the landing area, and firefighters put out the blaze. The jet, which was damaged, didn't catch fire, White said. "We continued practice," White said. "It was nothing major."
