Randy's whatsit quiz #2 and probably last!

Mon Nov 17, 2008 5:06 pm

OK - one more but this time with two image of two different aircraft or aircraft parts. No real hints to start with but again, if those close to these on a regular basis will withold your votes for a while, it would be appreciated.

Here is the first whatsit

And the second whatsit for this quiz

Have fun - by the way, right-clicking won't get you any help - sorry.

The first one a Stinson L-5?

Mon Nov 17, 2008 7:03 pm

If it is an L-5 I'm surprised.

Hi Eric - trust Ryan on this one - not an L-5. Thanks for trying.

1. The voice box of a Martian's Halloween mask. These are too easy Randy.

Mon Nov 17, 2008 7:11 pm

Just a guess. The top one is a T-craft, and the next one is a Spitfire.

Mon Nov 17, 2008 7:11 pm

Ok, my guess is that the first one is the I-16.

Second is the belly of the F-82. :)

Mon Nov 17, 2008 7:17 pm

First one is a 'Bf-108' actually a Nord.

Mon Nov 17, 2008 8:03 pm

James,

I'm going to stick with I-16... :)
Take a look through this photo album: http://picasaweb.google.com/inge.jon/FlyingHeritage# about the fifth photo.

Ryan is right about the first whatsit - it is the I-16. Very good. I'll post a wider view shortly. b29flteng - you are as strange as I remember :) I like it! Thanks for playing along.

CAPFlyer - you are very close and I'll give it to you if the "belly" can be the underside of the middle wing section, which it is.

Sorry I don't have a pony for y'all but maybe I can come up with something rare to share in the near future.

So much for quizes for now until I travel to some other locations so you can't narrow these down to just what is here in Midland. Thank's to all for having a little fun. Y'all fly safe.

As promised, here is a wider shot of the front of the I-16 in the CAF hangar in Midland in its display.

The aircraft didn't fly at AIRSHO 2008 due to some issues with the landing gear struts and I'm not sure if that issue has been resolved or not.
