Incredible scale Helldiver build

Normally I would put this in the Modellers forum, but this is so awesome that I felt you should all see it.

And it only gets better from there.

Chuck has been posting regular updates on the modeling website HyperScale. You'd think the thing could fly right off his workbench after seeing all the detail he has put into it!

I think it was Tom Blackburn's VF-17(Jolly Rogers) which got issued them for a short period of time- the CAG got rid of them when he taxiied out, and the empennage fell off & blew across the tarmac! Or am I misremembering?(I know that happened with whatever the plane was... I think it was the Helldiver)

It was the Helldiver, but it was not VF-17. There is a scene that is described almost identically in "Flights of Passage" by Samuel Hynes. He was a late war Marine dive bomber pilot. His squadron was issued the Helldiver, when the tail fell off (or broke off...it's been a while since I last read the book), the CO hit the roof and had them re-equipped with TBMs.

Me too. Been checking in regularly. It is absolutely incredible, the attention to detail is mind boggling, certainly a different level. For those who don't have it, here is the link, Django posted it on the modellers forum a while back, like to thank him because it has been great viewing. http://swannysmodels.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1190601077

I could have sworn it was Tommy Blackburn's VF-17- HOWEVER, I read so blasted many books each year, it is easy for me to get confused, and I have read "Flights of Passage" several times, so I am certain you are correct. Was trying to figure why they'd have put fighter pilots into that thing... lol...

At least I remember how to fix stuff!
